The Barramund Conge product "Zhou Yi" is now available simultaneously at 14 COSTCO stores across Taiwan!
In this product, HANAQUA is responsible for managing the supply chain of one of the main ingredients, the "Barramundi." In alignment with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hanshin Marine Biotechnology and HANAQUA have meticulously planned "Zhou Yi" to meet high standards of quality and sustainability.
How do we ensure that consumers receive a sustainably sourced and high-quality Barramundi?
The journey begins at the source. Raising a fish that is both delicious and environmentally friendly involves several key factors:
Clean Water Source: Clean, slightly saline seawater enhances the fish's flavor and ensures the farming operations have the necessary legal water usage permits.
High-Quality Feed: The feed significantly impacts the flavor, texture, and processing quality of the fish. We insist on using our own specially formulated feed for the Golden Pomfret, regulated and certified by GlobalG.A.P. standards. Fish raised on premium feed naturally exhibit consistent high quality.
Professional and Attentive Farming Management: Unlike machines, living organisms are unpredictable. Farmers need professional expertise and meticulous attention, similar to caring for children. Constant observation and timely intervention ensure the fish grow healthily. Our farming practices have even earned the qualification to export to the European Union.
Once the healthy, high-quality fish are grown, the processing methods are equally crucial. To maintain pure flavor, strict water quality tests for antibiotics start two weeks before harvesting. Feeding stops 48 hours before harvesting, with increased water flow to cleanse the fish. To prevent sun exposure, fish are transported early in the morning around 3 or 4 AM in temperature-controlled vehicles to ensure freshness and avoid stress-induced quality loss. GPS tracking and temperature monitoring systems are employed throughout transportation. Upon arrival at the processing plant, skilled technicians promptly begin sorting, discarding any fish with poor health or appearance, and placing the qualified fish into a spa-like tank for further processing.
Blood drainage is vital to eliminate any fishy odor, after which the fish are processed on the production line. Skilled workers remove scales and fillet the fish with seamless efficiency, completing each fish in under 10 seconds. Subsequent steps include deboning, removing oil membranes, trimming, chilling in ice water, and finally cutting and packaging for cooking. This entire process must be quick and uninterrupted to maintain optimal freshness.
The cooking process incorporates fresh, high-quality Golden Pomfret, premium Taiwanese rice, goji berries, green onions, salt, white pepper, and ginger powder. These simple, natural ingredients complement each other to enhance the original flavors, with advanced sterilization packaging technology ensuring the porridge remains delicious and shelf-stable without any chemical additives.
